Public ShareFolder F.A.Q. ID 03

Does Public ShareFolder also work with different Outlook® versions (Outlook® 98 - Outlook® 2002 and Outlook® 2003) in one network?

In principle, yes., but Microsoft® also does not recommend the use of Outlook® 2003 with other Outlook® versions in a network. If you open an “old” PST file (Outlook® 98 — Outlook® 2002 PST file) with Outlook® 2003 and you create some items and after this, you open this PST file with Outlook® 98 — Outlook® 2002 you could lost this new items.

In a pure Outlook® 98 — Outlook® 2002 and a pure Outlook® 2003 groupware network there are no compatibility problems, only with Outlook® 2003 and “older” Versions.

2 examples: The field “Notes” in the contact field and also the “Bodytext” in the calendar of older versions cannot be interlaced between Outlook® 2003 and Outlook® 98 — Outlook® 2002. With most fields however there are no problems with the common use in a groupware, but with some.
