Dell Or HP, Who Is Number One
International PC (personal computers) sales are Dell Inc. computers’ only concern even though they are in the number two position. HP (Hewlett-Packard Co.) is the worldwide chief in the number one position of PC sales.
In May of this year, Dell offered their PC’s at a real store instead of their low-cost usual on-line or telephone only system. Wal-Mart was the lucky store that was Dell’s number one choice. They displayed Dell PC’s in every one of their 3,000 plus retail stores. This brought in enough revenue for Dell that they have decided to branch out even further and sell the well-known Dell Inspiron 530 desktops, as well as the Inspiron 1721 and 1521 notebooks, in Staples stores. This new merger will give Dell not only the on-line and telephone sales but also an additional 10,000 more stores worldwide.
The competition for the number one spot is definitely on, especially when you consider that HP is also sold at Staples stores. The opponents will actually be placed side by side on the shelves. Notebook computer sales are on the rise due to great demand of bringing fiber optic connectivity into the suburban home in addition to the rivalry. Including the ease at which folks are using optical transceivers with SFP or GBIC modules, which translates to gigabit interface converter, and is a standard for transceivers, commonly used with Gigabit Ethernet and fiber channel. This may provide extremely high-speed Internet access. Optical fiber systems can also be used to send out and receive phone communications and digital television broadcasts.
