Panasonic Tablet PCs Ruggedized For Mobile Warriors
Panasonic Tablet PCs offer a range of features focused on specific users, all of them branded part of the Toughbook range. As the name suggests, the computers are built to survive rough treatment by people that require mobile computing because they often work out in the field.
The Toughbook computers provide and easy to see, clear display in full daylight. They are also designed to protect the three components most at risk in a mobile computer. These are the keyboard, hard disk drive and the display panel. Toughbooks can go the distance. They can survive kicks, bumps and hard drops. Panasonic has launched three Toughbook groups being the Medical Rugged group, the Business Rugged plus the All Rugged group.
Take, for example, the Business Rugged models CF-C1 and CF-51. Of these two convertible tablet PCs, the CF-51 is the larger with a 15.1 inch display panel. It weighs in complete with one battery pack at 3.4 kgs (7.5lbs), more than twice the weight of the CF-C1 (which weighs about 1.47 kgs or 3.2 lbs). It is designed to survive liquid spills, free-fall drops and even being stepped on by a titan.
Inadvertent liquid spillages on a CF-52 will not damage the beast. The computer has a unique drainage system that protects the 87-key keyboard and touchpad. A full 170-milliliter glass can spill onto the unit and flow out through draining channels without damaging the computer. All electronics remain dry, unharmed and functional.
When carried in the field, mobile computers often get accidentally dropped or they slide off their resting surface. For example, mariners at their navigation table on a pitching and rolling vessel know the horror of their computer sliding off the table and crashing to ground. The hard disk drive is most vulnerable to a fall. The CF-52 can survive 76 cm (30 inch) falls without damage to the hard disk or other electronic components.
Business Rugged Toughbooks are enclosed by a robust magnesium case that is unbreakable. The case is equipped with four shock-absorbent cushions made from an advanced material. Designed to optimally distribute pressure. This means the units can withstand pressure of up to 100kgs. The sensitive LCD display and hard disk are safe from breakages or other damage. The hard disk is also prevented from external shocks or severe vibrations.
The CF-52 comes with 160GB of hard disk memory (compared to 250 GB for the CF-C1) and 2GB of main memory expandable to 8GB (DDR3 SDRAM (8 GB maximum). The central processing unit is a powerful Intel Core i5-520M (2.4 GHz, Intel Smart Cache 3 MB). The unit has got good interfacing ability with 4 USB ports, one serial port (Dsub 9-pin male), one LAN port (RJ-45) and one external display socket.
In conclusion, Panasonic Tablet PCs offer style and functionality for mobile computer users. The CF-52 is a relatively high power consumer. It draws about 45 watts of power when operating and as much as 100 watts when recharging in ON state. The computer uses up to 0.7 watts of power even when it is on OFF state; this powers the computer internal clock.

Frequently Asked Questions...
I want a good laptop to run Adobe Design Suite Premium. Would this Dell laptop be a good choice?
Dell XPS Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T8300 (2.4GHz/800Mhz), 320GB 5400rpm SATA Hard Drive, 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8600M GT Video Card, Full Hi Definition, glossy widescreen 15.4 inch LCD (1920x1200), 4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz
Will this run Adobe Design Suite Premium smoothly and serve as an "ideal" machine for this software? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Answer:
The answer to your question is yes. It would run Adobe Design Suite quite well. The 2.4GHz of RAM will allow you to do more things at once, and run more complicated programs. And it has a big hard drive for saving your projects.
