Frequently Asked Questions...
Why does my new Graphics card crash my pc when i play games?
Hello,
I have just purchased a new GeForce FX 5700LE 64mb AGP and when i play games they crash my pc all games.. I have checked practically everything i can think of like GFX heating issues but not hot at all, replaced cpu and heat sink and nothing, used 1 ram stick at a time and nothing, replaced power supply unit (from dell 200w to dynex 350w and nothing, sat a fan in front of GFX card just in case it was overheating and nothing, installed new drivers for card and nothing, even after a fresh xp install so no other GFX drivers were on it.
My PC specs are:
Dell Optiplex GX260
P4 2.26cpu
1g ram
GeForce FX 5700LE 64mb AGP
dynex 350w PSU
Any info will be greatly appreciated!!
i have also found on a forum that updating my chipset drivers will help me to but i have an intel i845G chipset and when i go to intel website and get the drivers and try to install it says i dont meet system req. error for some reason and i do .. i have win xp pro. 1gig ram
Answer:
crashes can only be related to three things... not enough power to run the motherboard and g.card.... insufficient RAM... or a faulty card...(provided you have a motherboard that's able and an uncontaminated bios without conflicts)
i would first increase the RAM as it is least spendy and if that did not work i would beef up the power... if neither of these changed anything then i would scrap the system and start over...
