A RAM upgrade won't increase the PC's performance if it's not the cause of the bottleneck. Check the performance monitor to see if you need an upgrade. A faster processor will increase performance no matter what.
All of these people say increase to 512 MB. Depending on your OS, that may be the better thing is to do, especially if you are running Vista. If your consistently using 150 MB of RAM, then getting more won't change a thing.
If your running Windows, open the task manager, and select the performance tab. Check to see that your not exceeding your limits. Youtube has many videos showing you how to analyze the statistics.
