Media Features And Accessories For The Motorola Atrix
The Motorola Atrix 4G is an innovative smart phone that bridges the gap between the cell phone and other computing devices, such as desktop computers, laptops, handheld consoles and so forth. If we were to discuss this 10 years ago, by no means would we have mentioned smart phones being in the same vicinity of computers and consoles, but the gap has significantly decreased. Today, there isn’t a dramatic difference between a high-end smart phone and a low-tier computer, like a netbook. Smart phones, however, do have limitations, but Motorola manages to overcome many of them through a creative array of Motorola Atrix accessories. Choosing the right Atrix accessories is lot more than just picking out the perfect Motorola Atrix case or Motorola Atrix screen protector.
A great deal of the excitement surrounding the Motorola Atrix 4G smart phone has to do with the various docking stations on the market. With the right dock, you can essentially turn your Atrix into a laptop or desktop computer, or you can integrate it into an existing computer system, where you can take advantage of its features and peripherals. Perhaps the neatest feature of this modular design is that even while the Atrix is part of or acting as a computer, it still has all of its phone features, including the ability to accept and make phone calls, text messages and so forth.
The most popular of these Atrix docking accessories is the full-blown laptop dock. With the Atrix appropriately plugged in, this is a legitimate laptop. When you need your phone to be smaller, you simply undock it from the laptop shell, and go about your business. The great part about this dock is the high quality of the shell. When Motorola first announced it, many expected inferior quality compared to an actual laptop, but this isn’t the case. The shell, screen, and touchpad are all comparable to high-end Dell laptops but not so much to a Macbook Pro.
The desktop or HD dock lets you connect your Atrix to a desktop computer or a home entertainment center. It connects to your computer through USB and to a TV or similar device through HDMI. There are two other modes to think about: Webtop and Entertainment Center. Webtop offers full computer-like capabilities, and you can access this through a TV if you have a TV that supports this functionality. In Entertainment Center mode, you use a remote, which controls the dock, which controls the Atrix. This allows you to manipulate the video, music, and photos, and you can even access Internet features.
There is also a keyboard and mouse, both of which are connected to the HD dock via Bluetooth. There are nice accessories for people who use the Atrix as an integral part of the entertainment center. Instead of having a dedicated entertainment center PC, you can easily use the Atrix, remote, mouse, and keyboard. The keyboard, designed by Logitech, is super thin and lightweight, so it’s perfect for sitting on the couch and Web surfing on your TV using the Atrix. We'd also like to see a keyboard with a touchpad on it because the mouse is less useful depending on the configuration.

Frequently Asked Questions...
PC to HDTV resolution help?
My PC will not properly display a 1080p (1920x1080 60Hz) output to my TV! I can do it but the desktop is oversized and and colors are flushed and super contrasted. However, if it set the resolution to 1680x1050, the same size as my computer monitor, everything looks good and normal. Help!
Here is my setup:
PC: Dell XPS 410 (Vista 32)
-Nvidia GT 220
-DVI > Dell Monitor (1680x1050 native)
-HDMI > Samsung HDTV (1920x1080 native)
I have tried different cables, different video cards, going thru AVR, going straight to HDTV, unplugging DVI and only having the PC hooked to the HDTV... all the same result. I dont understand why I cant display at the full 1080p. Could it possibly be an issue with my PC or my TV?
Answer:
Just because you have an HD TV doesn't mean its 1920x1080 it could be some other resolution like 1780x956, 1888x1062, 1280x720 as those are still all HD resolution. Check the manual or website for the actual screen size of the TV. See if there is a driver you can download for the TV as well, it will help.
